Use Case: Receiving and Distributing LPNs Using the Flow Through Process in Oracle WMS Cloud

Business Scenario:
This use case demonstrates how a warehouse operator can perform a Flow Through Receiving and then distribute the received LPNs directly to outbound LPNs using RF transactions in Oracle WMS Cloud.
The objective is to receive inbound LPNs against a shipment and immediately allocate them to outbound operations through the Distribute LPN function.

Actors:

  • Warehouse Operator: Executes receiving and distribution using the RF device.
  • System: Validates inbound shipment details and manages the LPN distribution.

Preconditions:

  1. The inbound shipment must be created and available in the system.
  2. The operator must have RF access to the Receive Flow Through and Distribute LPN transactions.
  3. Dock door locations must be active and available for receiving.
  4. Distribute LPN Screen Parameter
  5. Receive Flow Through  Screen Parameter: Dont allow residue for flow through allocation (flowthrough-alloc-mode)
  6. Consolidation location config: mapping of location with showrooms or store rooms

Execution Steps

Receiving

  1. Log in to the RF device and navigate to:
    Inbound → Receive Flow Through.
  2. Enter the Shipment Number and select or scan the Dock Door location where the goods are being received.
  3. Receive the two inbound LPNs associated with this shipment:
    • IBLPN00000127
    • IBLPN00000132
Confirm quantities and complete the receiving process for both LPNs.

LPN Distribution

  1. From the RF Main Menu, go to:
    Picking/Packing → Distribute LPN.
  2. Enter or scan the first LPN number (IBLPN00000127).
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to:
    • Confirm the quantity,
    • Confirm the destination location, and
    • Enter or scan the Outbound LPN (OBLPN) for distribution.

Repeat the same steps for the second inbound LPN if applicable.

Outcome:
The inbound LPNs are successfully received and distributed to the outbound flow through the Distribute LPN transaction.
This process enables faster order fulfillment by minimizing storage time and directly linking received inventory to outbound shipments.
